Hello Reader,
I do hope this email finds you well. How's the weather where you're at. Feel free to email me back. I don't know about you, but aside from a few bitterly, dangerously cold days and a couple snow falls, we haven't had our usual winter. I have recently begun planning our garden, but I do find myself wondering if we simply won't get our usual winter or wonder if it will be late. That would not be good for obvious reasons.
Our chickens are doing well, and our honeybees are still alive. I have pruned some of our elderberry bushes, but I have a few more that I need to prune. However, we keep getting chances of rain and I definitely don't want to prune if there'll be rain in the next few days.
Enough about that, I wanted to share with you an article I wrote to help others, especially new gardeners, to understand the importance of frost dates, length of growing season, and days to harvest. So many people, unfortunately, don't understand what these things mean and why they are important, and they end up failing. I wrote this article to help those people. PSST...I have more coming on this topic. Also, feel free to share this article with any new gardeners you know.
Here's another one, if you are unsure what the difference is between hybrid; heirloom; open-pollinated; and GM seeds are, this article is for you.

Hello Reader, It's August already!? I don't know about you, but I cannot believe it is already August! My goodness! July was pretty crazy for us as we only had 3 days with nothing scheduled however it was good but wet. It rained and stormed so much. I guess the spring weather we did not get in April decided to come in July. Because it has been so wet, and we've been so terribly busy, our garden needs to be mowed in a pretty bad way. I hope to get to it tomorrow. We'll see; right now it is...
Hello Reader, Hello from Missouri Are you enjoying the spring weather where you're at? I am although spring has come fast but then winter was quite mild. I have given a couple canning classes recently, and it's gotten me in the mood to can during this downtime. So I have been busy canning butternut squash that we grew last year, potatoes, chicken, and chicken broth. If you'd like to see a short video where I share what I lay out when I'm preparing to can, it's right here. I always enjoy...
Hello Reader, Good morning! I do hope you had a wonderful weekend and will be able to enjoy this week. We had quite a bit of rain last week, but it is sunny today. Once I send this message out to you, I plan to go outside and sow some brassica seeds. Speaking of gardening, did you get time to read the 5 Simple Beginner Steps to Planning Your Garden article? If not, be sure to read that if you are new to gardening. Then make sure you read How to Decide Where to Plant Your Crops. I do hope you...
