Planning, Canning, and More

Hello Reader,

Good morning! I do hope you had a wonderful weekend and will be able to enjoy this week. We had quite a bit of rain last week, but it is sunny today. Once I send this message out to you, I plan to go outside and sow some brassica seeds. Speaking of gardening, did you get time to read the 5 Simple Beginner Steps to Planning Your Garden article? If not, be sure to read that if you are new to gardening. Then make sure you read How to Decide Where to Plant Your Crops. I do hope you remembered to download your free copy of the Garden Planning Guide, which tells you when to start seeds indoors or outdoors according to your frost date and which plants prefer to be planted together.

Not too long ago I taught two herb classes and then most recently I taught two canning classes, one for water bath canning and the other for pressure canning. If you're new to pressure canning, this article will show you step by step how to pressure can potatoes. All classes went well. It is wonderful being able to share valuable skills and knowledge with others.

Have you ever heard of or ordered from Azure Standard? I have been ordering from them since 2011 in fact, before moving up here, I was even a drop coordinator for their company in my local area. They are a great company selling bulk and mostly organic food, most of which is cheaper than you can buy locally. They not only sell food but also sell books, herbal remedies, seeds, seed starts, canning supplies, household products, etc... If you're interested, you can sign up for Azure Standard here using this link. If you are a new customer, I may receive a small commission only from your first order. No, this is not an affiliate link.

My most recent event was a surprise. I was contacted by a company asking if I would consider doing a review over their product for vacuum sealer bags. The deal was they would give me the bags in exchange for my honest review. I decided to give it a try, and I was very surprised that their bags, Out of Air, not only seemed to be better quality but they are also more affordable than Food Saver bags. If you purchase vacuum sealer bags and are not familiar with Out of Air, I encourage you to read this review and check the company out. No, I am not an affiliate for this company, and I make no money if you order from them.

I think that's about all I have to share right now. I hope you enjoy your day and have a blessed week.

I really truly want more people to learn more valuable skills and I enjoy sharing, so if you don't mind, please share my website with others.

Hello Reader, It's August already!? I don't know about you, but I cannot believe it is already August! My goodness! July was pretty crazy for us as we only had 3 days with nothing scheduled however it was good but wet. It rained and stormed so much. I guess the spring weather we did not get in April decided to come in July. Because it has been so wet, and we've been so terribly busy, our garden needs to be mowed in a pretty bad way. I hope to get to it tomorrow. We'll see; right now it is...

Hello Reader, Hello from Missouri Are you enjoying the spring weather where you're at? I am although spring has come fast but then winter was quite mild. I have given a couple canning classes recently, and it's gotten me in the mood to can during this downtime. So I have been busy canning butternut squash that we grew last year, potatoes, chicken, and chicken broth. If you'd like to see a short video where I share what I lay out when I'm preparing to can, it's right here. I always enjoy...

Hello Reader, I do hope this email finds you well. How's the weather where you're at. Feel free to email me back. I don't know about you, but aside from a few bitterly, dangerously cold days and a couple snow falls, we haven't had our usual winter. I have recently begun planning our garden, but I do find myself wondering if we simply won't get our usual winter or wonder if it will be late. That would not be good for obvious reasons. Our chickens are doing well, and our honeybees are still...
